Marina faces charges in Miami sewage spill
Article Abstract:
The Dept of Environmental Resource Management of Miami-Dade County has issued citations to five parties involved in the Miami Beach Marina sewage spill. An estimated 25 million gallons of sewage were released into Biscayne Bay after a dock builder drove a concrete piling into a 54-inch underwater sewer pipe at the marina in Jun 20, 2000. Cited were the city of Miami Beach, which owns the marina; Miami Beach Marina Assoc, which operates the property; Henry J DeLuca, general contractor; Marin & Marin Construction, which drove the pilings; and American Boatlift, agent for the applicant.
