$2M Detroit marina fire leads to charges against fire dept. civilian aide
Article Abstract:
Investigators believe that a nighttime, Apr 25, 2000, fire which caused Detroit, MI-based marina operator Gregory Boat Co $2 million in damages was caused by a civilian employee of the Detroit Fire Dept. After fielding numerous leads and using videotape from surveillance cameras, the Detroit police have arrested Anthony Carter, who reportedly may have even assisted firefighters in battling the blaze. City Fire Commissioner Charles Wilson has reported that investigators have nothing conclusive regarding Carter's possible motives for setting the fire.
