New Brunswick boss makes a positive first impression

Dustan McCoy's appointment as the president, chairman and chief executive officer of Brunswick, has met with approval of both retailers and Wall Street. Phil Keeter, president of National Marine Manufacturers Association, is of the opinion that this means better relationship between boat and engine dealers. Merrill Lynch admitted being disappointed by departure of former Brunswick president George Buckley. However, McCoy's track record at the company is having a positive influence at the bourses.

The lessons learnt by Tom Thies, and his brother Bill Thies, on owning and controlling SeaStrike, a boat manufacturing company, are discussed. The duo tried to outsource manufacturing activities and market the product themselves. The strategy did not work. Now, Tom Thies controls the boat manufacturing company himself.
