Architects urged to stop sulking over procurement
Article Abstract:
The shift towards design and build does not represent a lowering of standards in public procurement, according to UK Arts Minister Alan Howarth. He believes that architects should cooperate with contractors and clients to refine design-and-build procurement. He does not feel that there is any conflict between design and build and the remit of the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment, which was established to promote high architectural standards.

New inquiry begins into the Millennium Village fiasco
Article Abstract:
An inquiry will be held to discover why promised building and housing innovations are not being included in the final planned Greenwich Millennium Village, to be built in London. The scheme being proposed for the Greenwich site was chosen in a government-run competition and will cost up to 250 million pounds sterling to construct. Critics of the Village claim targets set by the government have been discarded in favour of traditional methods which have proved flawed in previous developments.
