3Com marries direct mail, net ads to promote phone

Sta Clara, CA-based communications equipment provider 3Com Corp launched a direct mail campaign in Jun 2000 to promote its new NBX 100 telephone that works in conjunction with computer networks. The campaign consists of 400,000 mailers and advertisements on electronic mail newsletters and Internet World Wide Web sites. It is targeting people who influence telephone purchases at companies of all sizes, both individuals who are Internet-savvy and those who are not.

KeraVision mail drive touts eye inserts

Fremont, CA-based ophthalmic good provider KeraVision has teamed up with Chicago, IL-based ophthalmic health center chain NovaMed Eyecare Inc to market KeraVision's new Intacs vision-correction inserts that correct nearsightedness. KeraVision plans to to test it direct mail campaign in Kansas City, MO, where NovaMed's largest facility, the Hunkeler Eye Centers, is located. NovaMed eye doctors in Kansas City will send letters to qualified patients recommending that they consider the Intacs procedure to correct their vision.
