Two case studies demonstrate the problems which can arise with the implementation of Construction (Design and Management) regulations, effective from April 1995. It is suggested that contracts should include details of what happens if the acceptability of the health and safety plan is questioned. Designers and clients are advised to improve their knowledge of temporary works and access facilities.
