Smaller US catalogers hesitant about overseas expansion
Article Abstract:
Small and mid-size US catalogers are excited about the possibilities of expanding into Europe and other overseas markets but are either reluctant to spend or lack the resources such an expansion will require. Catalogers that do make the plunge do so in a cautious manner, forming partnerships with local companies to reduce shipping costs. Still others are forging ahead, notably Land's End, which has made huge investments in infrastructure, staffing and overhead in its foreign ventures.
