Steadfast New York builder rides out housing recession
Article Abstract:
Ginsburg Development Corp of Hawthorne, NY, overcame the economic recession by curtailing its expenses and altering its marketing strategy. The leading luxury-home developer in Westchester County, NY, made money out of their rental units in New York, Florida, Tennessee and Pennsylvania and resorted to cost-cutting methods. They sublet a part of their offices, reduced their staff and hired consultants instead of permanent department heads. These measures cut 60% from their overhead expenses and enabled the company to continue operations and generate sales for 1992.

California builder beats the crunch
Article Abstract:
Van Daele Development Corp (VDDC) has withstood the housing industry downturn and managed to build 750 houses in 1992. Pres and CEO Michael V. Van Daele attributes the company's success to their practice of reinvesting half of the profits in the company to strengthen its cash reserves. The company aims to create the lowest priced houses in each of its markets but not at the expanse of quality. VDDC employs a project-based construction and marketing scheme and concentrates its advertising campaigns on signages in key roadways.
