1997-99 Ford Escort/ZX2
Article Abstract:
Ford Motor Co's 1997-1999 Escort/ZX2 models weigh roughly 120 pounds apiece more than their predecessors. Acceleration is merely adequate in this generation, although the automatic transmission feels smoother with the 110-horsepower, 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine and downshifts faster for passing and merging. Manual transmission Escorts feel livelier and also get better gas mileage than cars with automatic transmission. Visibility is generally good.

1991-96 Ford Escort
Article Abstract:
Ford Motor Co's 1991-1996 Escort models provide plenty of practical value though they cannot match a Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla in terms of refinement. They are stable and well controlled at highway speeds. Fuel economy in these models is excellent, and their suspension is surprisingly absorbent at highway speeds. Visibility is good from these Escorts' cabins. Leg room is adequate, but three people in the rear make for cramped seating.
