Choosing a handset
Article Abstract:
Mobile phones are available in many different guises and with numerous features, but some features are more important than others. The ability to change the handset's ringing tone is useful, especially the facility to silence the phone when it is inconvenient to take a call. While handsets are becoming ever smaller, it may be better to have a larger, heavier handset so that losing it is less likely. Other points to consider when choosing a mobile phone are presented.

Accessories
Article Abstract:
Mobile phones have a number of accessories, some of which are essential and others of which are optional. Battery life should be considered when choosing a handset, with accessories like vibrating batteries being an optional extra. A hands-free kit is a good option for some situations, allowing users to keep their phones in their pockets while talking.

The hard cell
Article Abstract:
There is a wide range of cellular phones available on the U.K. market and it is difficult to decide upon the right package. The first choice to make is between digital or analogue access, and this may depend upon where the phone is to be used. Other considerations include the choice of tariffs and which service provider to use. Leading service providers include Cellnet, Orange, Vodafone and Mercury One-2-One. It is expected that there will be 13.2 million cellular phones in use in the U.K. by 1999, with the majority being digital.
