Colour laser printers are relatively rare although they are dominant in the black-and-white market. Most colour laser machines are too expensive for the personal or home market, with prices ranging from 4,195 pounds sterling to 7,365 pounds sterling. A best buy for office workgroup printing is the Apple Colour LaserWriter 12/600PS, priced at 4,645 pounds sterling. The machine has 12MB of RAM and has an extra 240MB hard drive as an option. Adobe PostScript Level 2 and Quickdraw are standard. A disadvantage is the paper capacity of only 500 sheets.

There are many color laser printers available in the UK market, with prices ranging from 1,300 pounds sterling to 5,300 pounds sterling. Most models only take A4 paper, but one will print A3 in color. A best buy is the Konica KL-3015 Color Vision, priced at 2,180 pounds sterling. The machine produces high quality copies, but the color speed is only 3 pages per minute. An average standard of 16MB of RAM is supplied, although it can be upgraded to 80MB. Ethernet and Token Ring Interfaces are an option. Other color laser printers are evaluated.

A number of colour laser printers are evaluated ranging in price from 2,799 pounds sterling to 3,897 pounds sterling. The Minolta Color PagePro costs 2,799 pounds sterling and contains Adobe PostScript (Level 2) technology. The HP Color LaserJet 5/5N/5M costs 3,815 pounds sterling and contains HP-PCL5C and HP-GL/2 technology.
