Colour technologies
Article Abstract:
It is essential to choose the right colour technology when purchasing a colour printer. The main considerations are cost and applications. The five basic systems ar inkjet, solid ink, laser, thermal transfer and dye sublimation. The colour printer market is led by inkjet, with an 89% share of sales in May 1995. Most inkjet printers use thermal technology, but their colour production is inferior to other methods. Laser printers are too expensive for personal applications, but they are cost-effective. Specialised applications are best met by dye sublimation.
