Contact lenses: Some opticians are missing vital eye checks and giving poor advice in contact lens consultations
Article Abstract:
Researchers examined the quality of service at different opticians with regard to contact lenses. Two opticians missed important checks, although all researchers were asked for a medical and visual history during examination. Explanations about options for the different types of lenses and cleaning systems were not always clear. The types of lenses available include hard, rigid gas permeable, soft and daily disposable, and cleaning systems include multi-stage solutions.

A close-up view of opticians
Article Abstract:
An eye test is not just getting the right glasses, but it can also pick up the early signs of potentially blinding eye conditions and other health problems such as blood pressure, diabetes, and brain tumors. It is vital that we should have our eyes tested every two years or more often, depending on our age and medical history.
