Do you need a widescreen television?
Article Abstract:
A test of widescreen televisions revealed that the Sony KV-28FD1E has by far the best picture and sound quality quality. However, with a retail price of 2,100 pounds sterling, it is also much more expensive than any other television. The Panasonic TX-W28D2DP, with its good picture and sound quality and ease of use, performed second best in the test of 12 models and retails at 1,000 pounds sterling. Both these models have a picture-in-picture feature which allows the viewer to watch another channel in a small box in the main picture.

Vision on
Article Abstract:
Large screen televisions, 59 cm and 68 cm screens, with Nicam stereo sound were tested. All had teletext and Fastext, which finds pages more quickly by putting related pages together. All had remote control, many with no controls on the actual television. Their speakers were too close together to produce good stereo, but the television set could be connected to external speakers or a hi-fi system. Dolby Surround Sound processors are available for cinema quality film sound.
