End-user databases
Article Abstract:
The four main end-user databases available for microcomputers are Borland Paradox 5.0, Claris FileMaker Pro 2.1, Lotus Approach 3.0 and Microsoft Access 7.0. Borland Paradox 5.0 is a powerful but difficult to use database package and is recommended for professional developers. Claris FileMaker Pro 2.1 is limited by its flat-file nature and is only suitable for simple applications. Lotus Approach 3.0 is well-suited for end-users but not for serious development work. Microsoft Access 7.0 is slow unless run on a 486 or above but has several useful features, including a database splitter and a table analysis function.
