Finding the best medical cover
Article Abstract:
The reasons for taking out private medical insurance, the terms of cover and best buy insurance policies are presented. Waiting time was the main reason for 42% of patients with private insurance taking out such insurance, according to a health care survey. However, more than 70% of in-patients in the National Health Service (NHS) had to wait less than three months for hospital admittance. The cover of policies is important, and insurers often do not make conditions clear to consumers. Cover may depend on age, marital status, hospital choice, and other factors. Advice on making claims and the usual cover of a policy are also presented. The features of 57 insurance policies categorised as standard policies, budget policies and policies for those over 60 years are also discussed.

A survey of photo processing minilabs assessed what is on offer, such as print size, finish, a further set, and acceptance of black and white films. Causes for complaint include excessive cutoffs, spots or scratches on the negatives, poor exposure and lost films. Films delivered to minilabs were found to have variations in print quality, and the best buy for standard processing included Grunwick mail order's Bonusfil, Bonusphoto and Bonusprint, for one hour services Boots or SupaSnaps, and for enlargements, Mastercolor and Max Spielmann mail order, or Klick Photopoint shops
