Data integration
Article Abstract:
A recent development in the voice mail market is the integration of fax and E-mail with the system. The technology is still in its infancy and some voice processing systems are unable to deal with faxes, only telephone calls. At the high end of the market the system can integrate with a Local Area Network which gives a computer access to the voice processing system and also allows a link with E-mail. Fax-on-demand is a facility that is becoming more popular with users, allowing them to access information without the intervention of a human operator.

Capacity
Article Abstract:
The two main issues to consider when deciding the required capacity of a voice messaging system are port capacity and message length capacity. Working out port capacity means deciding on the number of access points required from the telephone system to the voice processing system. Advise from the system supplier is useful. Message capacity requirements must also be calculated, with most sellers recommending a capacity equivalent to three minutes for every mail box on the system. The size of the hard disk also limits the message capacity.
