A report compares the various types of credit card available, and a survey found that the most important feature was no annual fee. Six of the top 10 issuers charge an annual fee of 10 or 12 pounds sterling. The majority of credit cards have a 56 day interest free period, and most of the larger banks are not competitive with regard to interest rates. The report found that there are sometimes better deals to be had by avoiding the largest banks. Some credit cards offer various perks, including points schemes, airmiles and travel accident cover. Amongst the best buys were People's Bank Connecticut MasterCard/Visa, Bank of Cyprus Visa and MBNA MasterCard/Visa.
