Ready set go: The race is on between ONdigital and Sky Digital to sign up customers for their rival TV services. But if you're first out of the blocks, you may be stuck with equipment that's fairly limited and a service that doesn't match the hype
Article Abstract:
The picture and sound quality of digital TV is being exaggerated by broadcasters and manufacturers. Digital terrestrial can be received via a rooftop aerial, and digital satellite via a satellite dish, and both methods require a digital set-top box. Three satellite set-top boxes and two terrestrial set-top boxes were tested and were generally easy to use, and both provided parental control capabilities. All boxes can be linked to a hi-fi for improved sound, although none can be linked to S-VHS videos which provide high quality pictures.
