Twenty-nine Italian dry white wines are evaluated for taste, ranging in price from 2.49 pounds sterling to 4.99 pounds sterling. The wines Alasia Chardonnay 1996, Piemonte, Sainsbury's Bianco di Custoza 1997 and Terra Bianca Trebbiano dell'Umbria 1997, costing 4.99 pounds sterling, 3.99 pounds sterling and 2.99 pounds sterling respectively, taste best. A complete list of the tested wines is given.

Organic wines can vary considerably in quality. Some whites were found to have a very detectable taste of sulphur, but the reds were generally good. The Best Buys included Kawarau Sauvignon Blanc 2000 and Terra Viva Vino Rosso.

An evaluation of Italian red wine costing under 10 pounds sterling per bottle is presented. 24 bottles were evaluated and the Rocca Guicciarda Chianti Classico Riserva 1996, Barone Ricasoli is recommended.
