Article Abstract:

The secular aspects of Christmas have overtaken the religious aspects, but effort should be made to rid the season of the last remnants of Christianity. These remnants are particularly evident in the music which is pervasive during the Christmas season, and in work with children. Christmas rightly celebrates the end of the winter sinking of the sun in the northern hemisphere. There can be no objection to all the commercial aspects, if these give pleasure, nor to private religious observances, but forcing Christianity on to others is abhorrent.

An almost practical step toward sustainability

Article Abstract:

Measurements of economic activity such as gross national product can be adjusted to consider the net depletion of natural resources and environmental assets in the same way that depreciation of fixed capital is accounted for. This will make people aware of environmental losses and be able to determine what should be given back to have sustainability. Each generation should be able to replace the amount deducted from the net national protect (NNP) measure to provide a more realistic NNP.
