A panel of PC users assessed four types of CD-ROM software including medical guides, educational software for children, home designers and encyclopedias. The best buy medical guide was the BMA Family Health Encyclopedia at 40 pounds sterling, which was useful, interesting and simple to use. The best encyclopedia was Encarta 97 Encyclopedia at 45 pounds sterling and the best educational package was Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego at 30 pounds sterling. The best home designer was Visual Home Delux 3D at 50 pounds sterling.
