With e-mail systems, security is an issue and one of the highest priorities to consider when setting up a system. Security protection can be introduced, by installing a firewall. Another solution is encryption which can be undertaken on the mail server or on the client. Risks can be increased by careless or uneducated staff, but are easy to address, by strengthening password control and not copying information into a shared folder.

Companies that trade illegally on these terms are closed down by the Department of Trade and Industry. Companies that offer a contract are likely to be legitimate.
