Cretaceous frontal thrusts of the Verkhoyansk fold belt, eastern Siberia
Article Abstract:
The front of the Verkhoyansk miogeoclinal fold belt along the eastern boundary of the Siberian platform in northeast Asia possesses cretaceous thrust structures. The belt is subdivided into a number of segments, each of which has its own thrust system geometry. Evaluation of the vitrinite reflectance reveals that folding of the Verkhoyansk thrust front had been initiated during sedimentation as early as in the Late Jurassic. The frontal thrust structures formed in the Late Cretaceous were reactivated during the middle to late Pleistocene resulting in the modern mountain topography.

Structural styles and regional tectonic setting of the 'Gela Nappe' and frontal part of the Maghrebian thrust belt in Sicily
Article Abstract:
The Gela Nappe of south central Sicily is an example of a curved segment of an orogenic front. The nappe and foreland plate are described in major tectonostratigraphic domains by the stratigraphy and deformation of pretectonic units, as well as by the syntectonic units. A correlation between tectonic style and pretectonic stratigraphy indicates that the structural trends swing in the Gela nappe frontal thrusts could be controlled by crustal structure variations from the original footwall history.

Accretion of a rifted passive margin: The late Paleozoic Rhenohercynian fold and thrust belt
Article Abstract:
The Rhenish Massif forms part of the Rhenochercynian fold and thrust belt flanking the northern part of the Middle European Variscan belt. A study was undertaken to examine the internal geometry and kinematic evolution of an orogenic wedge which seems to provide favorable conditions for studying passive margin accretion to an orogenic wedge. The method and conditions of detachment of the sedimentary shelf apron from the continental basement are assessed.
