Crustal structure and evolution of the Trans-Hudson orogen: results from seismic reflection profiling
Article Abstract:
The 400 km seismic reflection data of the early Proterozoic Trans-Hudson orogen (THO) across the Williston basin in Montana and North Dakota show that its orogenic evolution is different from that of the THO area in Canada. The northern broad crustal-scale antiform is axial to the orogen and is cored by an Archean microcontinent. An Archean crustal fragment cores the antiform in the south. The eastern THO has significant east dipping crustal penetrating reflections. Gradual downward cessation of the dipping reflections characterizes the Moho below the Trans-Hudson internides.

Crustal deformation of the Lhasa terrane, Tibet plateau from Project INDEPTH deep seismic reflection profiles
Article Abstract:
International Deep Profiling of Tibet and the Himalaya (INDEPTH) deep seismic reflection profiles were evaluated to determine the possibility of deformation and magmatism beneath southern Lhasa and Yarlung-Zangbo in Tibet. Results indicated postcollisional shortening of the Lhasa terrain's upper crust with a corresponding melting of the middle crust. No direct evidence was found regarding the underthrusting of the Indian continental crust under the Lhasa terrain.
