Geometry and kinematic evolution of passive roof duplexes deduced from crosssection balancing: example from the foreland thrust system of the southern Bolivian Subandean zone
Article Abstract:
Geometric and kinematic analyses of five balanced cross sections of the Subandean Zone of Bolivia reveals passive roof duplexes distinguished by their lithotectonic units. Threepassive roof duplexes show development of piggy back sequencing through propagation from deeper units toward the foreland. The data suggest that the Andean orogenic front corresponds at any one time to a passive roof duplex. A transfer zone exists between hinterland structures and the orogenic front; moredata is needed to fully explain the existence of the zone.

Large-scale duplexes within the New Britain accretionary wedge: a possible example of accreted ophiolitic slivers
Article Abstract:
Sea floor imaging defines a multichannel seismic line in the western Solomon Sea which is indicative of reflectors in the New Britain accretionary plate. The reflectors are large duplexes accreted in the subduction zone. The measured maggnetic data correlates well with magnetic models and limits the slivers' size and velocities. Calculation of the interval velocities of two strong reflectors was done using stacking velocities limited by magnetic models. Results indicate the presence of ophiolitic slivers in the accretionary zone.

Timing and magnitude of rotations in the frontal thrust systems of southwestern Sicily
Article Abstract:
New magnetic anisotropy and paleomagnetic data from southewestern Sicily is reported. The data gives a better constraint on the timing of the rotations observed in Mesozoic sediments, emphasizing the rotational links between the Gela Nappe and the western Sicilian belt. Paleomagnetism on its own does not enable a complete clarification of the tectonic evolution.
