Microstructures of intergrown phyllosilicate grains from Verrucano metasediments (northern Appennines, Italy)
Article Abstract:
The origin and evolution of fine-scale interleaved phyllosilicate grains (IPG) of Verrucano rocks in Appennines, Italy are studied using electron microscopy techniques. Results show six types of IPG with contacts ranging from coherent grain boundaries with parallel basal planes and along-layer transitions to low- and high-angle grain boundaries. The IPG were formed on pristine minerals while transformations occurred during the prograde and retrograde metamorphic path of the rocks.

Retrograde evolution of eclogites: evidences from microstructures and 40Ar/39Ar white mica dates, Munchberg Massif, northern Bavaria
Article Abstract:
Research describing the process of dating metamorphic rocks are presented. Rocks from the Munchberg Massif in northern Bavaria were dated using the 40Ar/39Ar technique. Dating results, combined with age values taken from field literature, record the cooling history of the Bavarian formation from eclogite-facie conditions. A petrological effect which was generated was pumpellyite-prenite-facies mineral formation.
