Winter and summer temperatures of the early middle Eocene of France from Turritella delta 18O profiles: comments and reply
Article Abstract:
F. P. Andreasson and B. Schmitz conducted a study on the Cenozoic climate focusing on the winter and summer temperatures during early Eocene period. The study includes an analysis of the mean annual temperature and the mean annual range of temperatures using oxygen data of calcareous skeletons. Results show that temperatures during winter season is higher than estimates derived from the models. However, oxygen data is not sufficient in determining temperatures for marginal marine settings since it has a tendency to overestimate the values because of the fresh-water mixing.

Eocene continental climates and latitudinal temperature gradients: comment
Article Abstract:
Greenwood and Wing's analysis of leaf structure does not show equable high-latitude climates during the Eocene era. This can be proven by comparing modern and Eocene mean annual temperatures and cold month mean temperatures (CMMT). The effects of photoperiodism and other factors were not also considered in studying leaf structure. The only remaining evidence for equability is the presence of palms.

Middle Pleistocene sea-surface temperature change in the southwest Pacific Ocean on orbital and suborbital time scales
Article Abstract:
Planktonic foraminifera in the southwest Pacific Ocean suggest the sea surface temperature was warmer during the Pleistocene than the Holocene. Change was relatively rapid, suggesting global-scale mechanisms.
