Structural framework and denudation history of the flanks of the Kenya and Anza Rifts, East Africa
Article Abstract:
Extensive areas of Proterozoic crystalline rock flank the Kenya Rift, East Africa, which lacks traditional stratigraphic markers. According to the apatite fission track data, the faults of the Anza and Kenya are associated with rifts that stretch over a wide area in the west and east of Kenya. The Cretaceous/Paleogene extension in the Anza Rift is probably the origin of the block faulting in the extended area. Rapid denudation with periods of slower exhumation is responsible for the cooling in the flanks. This indicates that the area is undergoing regional extension with a low level of strain.

Geophysical evidence for crustal thickness variations between the Denali and Tintina Fault Systems in west-central Yukon
Article Abstract:
Analysis of gravity and broadband seismic data reveals that in the corridor between the Tintinal and Denali Fault System, the crust is nearly 39 km thick south of 63 degrees N and only 35 km thick below regions further south. The intervening zone between these two regions is abrupt, 35 km wide and dips nearly 8 degrees southwards which corresponds to the southern limit of exposure of 'lower' plate orthogneiss assemblage. The extension of thin crust is due to either a collision-related process or from stress transfer between Denali and Tintina strike slip fault zones.
