On the growth of normal faults and the existence of flats and ramps along the El Asnam active fold and thrust system
Article Abstract:
A study of the southwest segment of the El Asnam, Algeria, thrust fault reveals that the complexity of the surface deformation is concurrent to a complex three dimensional geometry, which involves connected steep ramps and shallow flats. The folding of the sedimentary cover increases at Sara El Marouf and Kef El Mes, possibly due to the propagation of the main fault along the subhorizontal basement-cover interface. Both these folds are, therefore, fault propagation folds. There is a direct merging of the normal faults with the main thrust in the basement at Beni Rached.

Role and effect of pore fluid pressure in thrusting: the case history of the Umbria-Marche Apennines, central Italy
Article Abstract:
The findings of the Umbria-Marche thrust system (UMTS) test suggests that most of the features of a thrust system can be considered as the consequence of the incremental, transient increase of the pore fluid pressure as a resulting from the shortening of a crustal section. The structure, timing and rates of deformation of the UTMS have been studied with the aim of comparing features and processes taking place during the growth of a tectonic wedge with those inferred from mechanically based model forecasts.

Seismotectonics of the April 25, 1992, Petrolia earthquake and the Mendocino triple junction region
Article Abstract:
An earthquake that occurred in Petrolia, California, on Apr. 25, 1992, is a subduction process between the Gorda deformation zone and the Humboldt plate in the Cape Mendocino region. This result is obtained from the slip direction, N75 deg E - N 80 deg E, of the mainshock and aftershock distribution of the quake. The processes involved in the quake and the two large aftershocks and a description of seismotectonics of the region are given.
