Geology of the Idonnappu Belt, Central Hokkaido, Japan: evolution of a Cretaceous accretionary complex
Article Abstract:
The Idonnappu Belt in Central Hokkaido Island, Japan, presents evidence of Cretaceous formation by directed underthrust movement of the oceanic crust. The Belt is divided by its similarly-named fault into the western Oku-niikappu (ON) subbelt and the eastern Koiboku (KO) subbelt. Melange facies lines the ON subbelt while the KO subbelt is composed of a thick flysch sequence and sandstone and shale mix with thin tectonic melange.

Controls on accretion of flysch and melange belts at convergent margins: Evidence from the Chugach Bay thrust and Iceworm melange, Chugach accretionary wedge, Alaska
Article Abstract:
Many accretionary prisms are dominated by different structural belts, melange and relatively coherent flysch terrains. Controls on flysch and melange accretion are not well understood. New geologic mapping results on the southern Kenai Peninsula are reported and a structural model to explain the dramatic alterations in accretion style from melange of the McHugh complex to coherent turbidites of the Valdez Group is proposed.
