This is not your father's National Weather Service: 76th AMS Annual Meeting luncheon speech
Article Abstract:
The Dept. of Commerce COO and Deputy Sec. David J. Barram declares that the National Weather Service (NWS) should be commended for dedicating itself to the development of advanced meteorological equipment and technology. According to Barram, these innovations enable weather people at the NWS to provide the public with faster service and highly accurate weather forecasts. However, he adds that the NWS needs to become more politically active to cope with the changes at the weather service and encourage government officials to implement sound technology policies that will benefit atmospheric science professionals.
