Timescales and mechanisms of fluid infiltration in a marble: an ion microprobe study
Article Abstract:
An integrated oxygen isotope and trace element microanalysis and cathodoluminescence imaging study of marble from the Hida metamorphic belt in north-central Japan was conducted. A detailed oxygen isotope map of calcite grains in a coarse-grained marble was developed through the use of a new ion microprobe method. The marble was found to have gone through granulite facies before being exposed to amphibolite facies metamorphic events. Two types of calcite, a yellow luminescing and a purple luminescing varieties, were detected. Gross isotopic and elemental disequilibrium was reported.

Intercrystalline stable isotope diffusion: a fast grain boundary model
Article Abstract:
A model describing stable isotope diffusion is presented and analyzed. The Fast Grain Boundary model predicts recorded temperatures between two or more minerals and assumes that local equilibrium and mass balance restrictions apply to the interdiffusion states it describes. It is shown that diffusive exchange effects must be thoroughly evaluated beforedescribing mineral fractionations.
