A general model of the Soviet consumer
Article Abstract:
A general model of consumers in a Soviet-type economic environment was developed. The model integrates consumption and savings that incorporate random queues. rationing, pricing and a second economy. The model suggests that saving patterns are predictable even if an economy is characterized by rationing, queuing and parallel markets. It was concluded that the model presents a dynamic framework that illustrates the conditions being experienced by Soviet-type consumers.

Job rights and labor productivity in a Soviet-type economy
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to evaluate a shirking model of the labor market for Soviet-type economies (STEs). The study considers factors of job rights and labor productivity under such economic conditions. Results show that unemployment is not effective as a disciplining method for workers under STEs with job rights. In addition, a reformed STE exhibits superior efficiency over traditional STEs.
