A sociologist asserts that the discipline of economics has essentially ignored the capacity of visual images to convey truths about the social world. Instances are given where economists have relied on visual images to demonstrate that there is no inherent incompatibility between being an economist and employing visual imagery in the quest for knowledge and understanding.
