Alpharma Animal Health Pres Bruce Andrews believes that medicated feed additives are necessary in order to meet the demand for abundant, safe and inexpensive food products. He adds that the growing specialization of a number of companies in their core products has allowed the company to grow through acquisitions. Alpharma's Andrews believes that companies involved in food production have the responsibility to correct the misinformation of the public regarding biotechnology through education.

Fox believes that efficiency, providing clients with the means to benefit from technology, is the ultimate answer to the present economic problems in the industry. The limited knowledge animal health product companies have of their products makes it necessary to consult with food-animal veterinarians when it comes to marketing. Although producer-based marketing appears more cost-effective and allows greater control over distribution channels, spending time with a veterinarian gives companies the added benefit of knowing how their products compare with those of their competitors.
