Are cities dying?
Article Abstract:
Statistics show that the scenario of a dying city is a far-fetched prognosis. The period between 1890 and 1990 saw a dramatic rise in urbanization as reflected in population growth in metropolitan areas with a population of more than one million. Furthermore, no significant correlation exists between size and economic growth in cities or metropolitan areas. On the contrary, agglomeration economies will continue growing in the long run. Economic growth, however, has its costs, especially for poorer, more heterogeneous, older cities.

Who owns guns? Criminals, victims, and the culture of violence
Article Abstract:
An analysis of gun ownership distribution in the US reveals that gun-owners are usually members of social groups where gun ownership is the norm due to public mistrust of public justice and a tradition of private retribution exists. The study sues the 1972-1994 General Social Survey data and finds that income is correlated to gun ownership and that prevalent values, ethnicity and gender determine gun ownership.
