As Luddite as the Unions
Article Abstract:
The British Law Society opposes a legislative proposal which would allow banks, building societies and licensed conveyances to transfer legal titles to private homes, thus ending the lawyers' monopoly of these transactions. New computer equipment should reduce the cost of conveying registered properties in lawyers' offices. An extensive lobby by the Law Society has been initiated.

Article Abstract:
Banks are trying to increase their share of the international barter trade. This exchange of goods for goods is usually done between governments. Banks are acting as clearing houses, matching buyers and sellers, and trading on their own account.
