Special interest magazines
Article Abstract:
UK consumer spending on magazines rose by 37% in real terms in 1990-94, with the value of the special interest sector estimated at some 650 million pounds sterling in 1994. The main segments within the special interest sector are sport, cars, music, computers, gardening and men's general magazines. One of the fastest growing sectors is men's general magazines, which has increased by more than 150% since 1993 in terms of retail selling price. This reflects a change in men's reading habits and a greater willingness on the part of men to buy leisure magazines.
