Building transnational alliances to create competetive advantage
Article Abstract:
The creation of strategic alliances is a common global corporate practice. The sharing of research and development expenses, access to complementary resources and the spreading of risk are some of its advantages. However, the possibility of losing competetive strength, cultural misunderstandings and poor communication are also possible in these agreements. Correct management of the alliance by the parties involved is needed to avoid this situation. Certain multinational corporations utilize a network of alliances while new industrial structures are used to coordinate instead of acquire resources.
