Dog food
Article Abstract:
There are four main types of dog food: moist food, complete dry dog food (CDDF), mixers and dog treats. Volume sales of CDDF increased by 33% between 1993 and 1997 and are expected to continue to grow. Dog mixers have fallen by 27%. Dog treats sales have increased. Supermarket own-brands of CDDF will increase and retailers will promote super-premium products which have added vitamins and nutrients. Moist food will lose ground to CDDF at about 2-3% per year. Both moist and CDDF sectors will have around 40% of the market, with treats accounting for most of the rest.

Dog food
Article Abstract:
Although less dog food has been purchased the popularity of more expensive types of food has resulted in the United Kingdom dog food market increasing by 0.2 billion pounds sterling. The 6% fall in the amount of dog food purchased can be attributed to a fall in dog ownership due to the difficulty of caring for dogs in homes where all the adults are working and the house is left empty during the day. New healthy types of dog food produced abroad or by experts in dog nutrition are gaining sales.
