Doing it now or later
Article Abstract:
Self-control problems which are modeled as present-biased preferences are analyzed in terms of behavioral and welfare implications where the subject is required to engage in an activity only once. The study also integrates two set of distinctions: first, if choices involve immediate costs or immediate rewards and second, self-control problems from the point of view of the naive and the sophisticated person. Naive people are biased towards immediate reward activities while sophisticated people mitigate procrastination but are observed to aggravate their behavior.

Lives saved or lives lost? The effects of concealed-handgun laws on crime
Article Abstract:
An analysis of concealed handgun law effects on crime rates reveals that the impact is by no means negative across all crime categories and are much smaller than suggested by Lott and Mustard in their 1997 paper. The study shows that there is a pattern regarding the effect of shall issue-laws on crime rates that policy-makers can use to tailor laws for particular social conditions in their jurisdiction.
