Employee involvement programmes improve corporate performance
Article Abstract:
Employee involvement programs are used by companies to increased competitiveness. Such programs often involved reducing the number of managers, decentralizing corporate decision-making processes and utilizing cross-functional teams. However, lower-level employees view these programs as a threat to their right to collectively bargain with their employers as well as an effort by the company to exact additional work from them without additional compensation. Low-level employees need to have proof that the program is working for them to participate in it.

Corporate raiders don't cut investment in R&D
Article Abstract:
A study of pre- and post-merger levels of spending on research and development (R&D) and capital expenditures in US firms is presented. Corporate raiders, contrary to speculations, are found to be realistic in their views toward capital spending in general and R&D in particular. They acknowledge the relationship between capital spending and firm value and do not summarily slash investments that provide competitive advantages through product differentiation, cost reductions and improved productivity.
