Enterprise ownership, enterprise organisation, and worker attitudes in Chinese rural industry: some new evidence
Article Abstract:
Very mixed views continue to be expressed about the organizational and behavioural features of China's Township and Village Enterprises (TVEs), as well as about the reasons for their success. Some observers regard TVEs as merely disguised private enterprises, while others see them as a unique type of enterprise organization based on collective ownership. Research undertaken among private and collective rural enterprises in Heilongjiang, China, indicates that TVEs and private enterprises cannot be seen as organizationally and behaviourally equivalent.
