U.S. officials designate Irbid Industrial Estate as qualifying industrial zone
Article Abstract:
The Irbid industrial estate was declared a qualifying industrial zone (QIZ) on March 6, 1998, being the first of such program initiated by a triumvirate of US, Jordan and Israeli trade officials. The zone does not only mark the start of industrial revolution in the region, but also signify the end of hostilities between the two Arab nations. With about 55 industrial plants within the area, the zone has virtually been a manufacturing center of various products ranging from textiles to electric devices.
