Great man-made river flows: to the surprise of many, Qaddafi's pipedream succeeds
Article Abstract:
The massive irrigation and water supply project of Libyan President Muammar Qaddafi succeeded as delivery of water to several dry places of Libya materializes. The $11-billion project brings water from deserts of southern Sahara to the people of Tripolo, Benghazi and the Mediterranean littoral of Libya. The success of the project brings to question the effectivity of US sanction against Libya which is expected to boost Qaddafi's appeal to the people as it signifies intelligent expenditure of oil revenues.
