Interaction structure and social change
Article Abstract:
Social change has been studied in terms of uniform externalities, but externalities may not be uniform. Coordination is important for transactions such as credit card usage and norms of standards develop from this coordination. Interaction structures can be local, group-based and uniform, and different structures have trade-offs such as likelihood of change being implemented and speed of that change. This helps understand phenomena such as the spread of the Internet.
