Is Belgium ready for EMU? A look at national, sectoral and regional developments
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted analyzing the position of Belgium economy in the European Monetary Union (EMU) with regards to three major issues. These are the loss of the monetary and exchange rate instrument, the performance of the labor market and maintenance of political cohesion among European Union member countries. A parametric statistical mode that is equal to the approach carried out by Bayoumi and Prasad (1995) was used to provide explanation regarding production growth.

Endogenous growth in a small open economy: any policy lessons?
Article Abstract:
Endogenous growth theory was discussed in light of recent empirical findings to determine what are important factors for a small open economy. Under growth theory, knowledge is commonly established as non-rival and spills over intemporally and across sectors. The discussion concluded with the evaluation of current policy, which should be providing synergy between companies adopting technologies but not at shifting the technology transfer itself.

Cohesin policy in the EU: going beyond fiscal transfers?

The authors propose that the European Union needs to change its social and economic cohesion policies as the number of members increase, rather than continuing the current policies.
