Regional development in Thailand: some observations from the Thai automotive industry
Article Abstract:
The Thai economy has grown rapidly between 1980 and 1995, with both manufacturing and services showing growth The center of growth has been the capital of Thailand, Bangkok, though there has been some move toward decentralization. The locational behavior of companies in automobile manufacturing has been investigated using a logit model. This helps to understand agglomeration in a country like Thailand where one city is dominant. The findings tend to back a product-cycle view of industrial dispersion and concentration.
