Legal developments
Article Abstract:
Legal developments which transpired within the judicial body of the EU in 1996 are evaluated. The EU's Court of Justice of the European Communities (ECJ) launched its home page on the Internet World Wide Web. Certain changes in the ECJ's framework might now make it possible for the judicial body to reduce its backlog of cases. The ECJ is also increasingly being asked to rule on the interpretation of complex EU laws affecting areas such as taxation, the environment, telecommunications, agriculture and customs.
